2. Enter Query Sequence

Each BLAST search page has an input field where you can enter your query as a raw sequence, in FASTA format, as an NCBI accession number, as an NCBI GenInfo Identifier (GI) number, or in GenBank format (ten-character columns with line numbers). You can access several sample query sequences for your BLAST search under query input and database selection.

Note: you will need to select “Protein BLAST” on the BLAST homepage, or the “blastp” tab at the top of the BLAST search homepage to run the sequences in the link as these are protein sequences.
